Project Overview
Whisper of the Abyss is a 2.5D puzzle game built by our team with Unity. Built on Unity's physics engine, its puzzles revolve around a limited number of jumps, map exploration, teleport stations, and items that must be brought to their matching use points.
My responsibilities included:
- Lighting & shadows: Designing the game's lighting and shadow atmosphere
- Ray tracing: Implementing ray tracing for the game's lighting
- Tileset: Building the tile-based map system used to compose the game's levels
- Dynamic background computation: Calculating and updating the game background in real time as the game state changes
- Item mechanics: Designing and implementing how items are picked up and used at their matching use points
The game is published on itch.io and can be played directly in the browser.
